In July, Daniel and Solanus traveled to Honduras to join in a celebration with the Missioners of Christ. We had all planned to go but the flights were so expensive that we could only send 2 as representatives of our family.
Daniel first met Carol Restaine in 2002 when he lived in Honduras for about 6 months after he graduated from Texas A&M. He lived and served with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal while Carol had been living there as a Missioner of Christ. She had been invited by the Friars to come to the same neighborhood in order to serve alongside them and particularly minister to the women and girls of the families they were serving.
We moved to Honduras in October 2003 to serve with the Friars and actually lived with Carol in the house she was renting before moving into our own house. So we got to know and serve with the Missioners of Christ from their beginnings in Honduras.
The celebration this past July included Mass, dinner, and a program and lots of visiting. Here is a link to the page that has info about the Missioners' history if you scroll through.
