First days in Honduras

Since arriving in Honduras on Tuesday, we've been busy.  We've had orientation meeting about the Missioners of Christ and Honduran culture.  We've visited the Poor Clares who have been praying for us, played an intense and fun game of futbolito (soccer on a small court), had movie night with popcorn, gone to Mass every morning (usually at the friary across the street) and prayed in Holy Hours most days as well as morning and evening prayer with the community. We've washed our clothes by hand...well Michelle did...she needs to teach the children.  Our meals have all been with the community in their big dining space.  We've helped with dishes, cleaning the chapel, and other chores around the Missioners' house which is pretty big.  We are staying in a house that is attached to the Missioners' house for about 2 weeks, until our house is ready.

On Saturday, we had the ground-breaking ceremony for the Beata Margarita Clinic for physical therapy.  In the afternoon, Juan Pablo, Emmanuel, and Maria Victoria played violin for a wedding of a friend of the Missioners.  They are already asked to play for another wedding in 2 weeks.

Today we went to Mass at a nearby parish and then went up out of the city a bit to enjoy some cooler air and play games and volleyball.  We got quite hot and sweaty and when we returned we called home to Texas where Michelle's parents were making a fire in our wood stove and showed us all the ice.

The other Missioners are all very welcoming and so glad we are here.  Most speak at least some English, so the kids have been able to communicate.  One young man named Ryan, came the same day as us to begin his 2 year commitment as a Missioner of Christ.  He has been confused many times as another one of our sons. :)

We would love to answer any questions you have for us about life here, so please leave them in the comments.
