This past long weekend we had friends over, so Monday we took them to Central Park. Daniel worked a half-day at the Sisters where the novice Sisters are staying for the week to work on the Convent. The upper side of the Park is only a 12 minute walk from the Convent. We drove there since we had the stroller and picnicing stuff. The day was cloudy and warm and muggy, but it feels fairly nice in the shade of a large tree.
The sparrows really liked our discarded bread crusts and bits of cheese. We tried to catch one. The trap is in the following picture.
Our guests covered Juan Pablo in sand.
But he broke out.Juan Pablo and Emmanuel playing in the sand at the edge of the Harlem Meer.
Another event of the weekend was a trip up to Trinity Retreat House where Fr. Benedict Groschel, CFR, lives. We see him often at community events, but usually only greet each other in passing. So we were invited to have dinner with him and get to know each other a bit. He loves children, so Juan Pablo and Maria Victoria got a bit of his attention. Emmanuel was asleep most of the time, which is probably better since his 2 year-oldness is not always the most cute and impressive...especially to older people who don't really know what to do with a kid screaming and kicking on the floor for no apparent reason....I mean, I don't know what to do with him either, but I live with the kid so I can ignore it. :)
Being a psychologist, Fr. Benedict predicted Juan Pablo to be very intellegent and Maria Victoria to have personality. :) We'll see.
