Some Texas Winter Days

Yes, the Lord hears the cry of the Texans living in New York City. And He blesses them for not complaining too much about the cold by sending them some lovely 60 degree weather right after some 20 degree weather. We've spent some lovely afternoons just enjoying the park. One particular day was extra special because we were joined by some lovely friends. The occasion was the "Good-bye Party" for one of our friends. Br. Honorat (some of you may have met him through our blog or in person when visiting us) was his friar name, but he is now called by his Baptismal name Jesse. If I ever have a story of a vocation discernment well done, his is it. He entered the Friars, lived the life, went through growth and healing, and then followed God's call to leave the community of brothers he knew so well in order to find a marriage partner and then live the beautiful Sacrament of Marriage. We miss him already but hope to see him again soon.
I love the way God can take us on a roller coaster ride in our discernment of our life's vocation and then land us in a "place" so right for us, yet one that we might never have imagined a few years back. All the while He's calling us to Himself and making it known that we will never be totally happy until we are in Heaven with Him. I love it. During my own discernment, I went through confusion and doubt and uncertainty, but it was also the time in my life that I prayed the most. Hours and hours spent before the Blessed Sacrament...so amazing.
So, we're praying for you, Jesse. :)
Brittany and Etel also shared the day with us and we're praying for y'all's discernment, too. :)
Baby Maria Victoria is sitting up. She's a lovely little 5 month old.

Juan Pablo's "just chillin'."
