Bella

Last night I had the opportunity to preview the movie Bella which comes to theaters on October 26. Some of the friars were going to the last showing of it before it comes out officially and asked if Daniel and I would like to go. Knowing the boys probably wouldn't sit through it and instead disrupt it, Daniel let me and Maria Victoria go. It showed at a Catholic high school auditorium for a small (but seemingly well-to-do) audience. Several pre-screenings like this were put on by the Archdiocese of New York Respect Life Office which is staffed by some of the Sisters of Life, many of whom were there last night. Their goal was to get people to pre-order tickets, even a whole theater's worth of tickets. Eduardo Verastegui (the star and one of the "three amigos" who started Metanoia Films after his conversion, his story is inspiring as he was once what the media called the Brad Pitt of Mexico) was possibly going to be there to give his testimony, but he wasn't able to come. Bummer.
The movie is very beautiful and moving (take your tissues) and, obviously, pro-life. I definitely recomment going to see it. If any of you do, tell me what you think of it. You can find out where it is playing by going to www.BellatheMovie.com. Two of the friars are in it so you can try to find them. They filmed the movie here in New York in 24 days and the "three amigos" stayed at one of the friaries where they received a weekend retreat from one of the friars before starting to film. Other actors and film people stayed at times also. One of the actors even attributes his conversion to his stay at the friary.
So...good things...go see the movie...tell others to go see it...pray that the Culture of life is spread through the movie.

Dear Michelle,
it is so exciting you got to see bella! They are showing it at our shool tonight too. My first time watching it was last year though, on campus, and Eduardo (the main actor) shared with us his testimony. It was inspiringly powerful!
