And the count continues...

Yes, I suppose y'all deserve an update since the week 'til due date of Maria Victoria's arrival has come and gone. Yesterday the midwife came to check me for the weekly check-up and said all looked good. I couldn't report any signs of labor, false or real. Last night my lower back was hurting, but I think that had to do with the few hours of mowing I did. When I did think that it might possibly be labor, I immediately thought, "No, not tonight, I'm too tired." :)
Today I feel fine, though the muggy hottness seems to take the energy out of me. (Yesterday, I took the kids to town twice, both times with the added motivation of being able to sit in the air conditioned car and buildings for a while.) A friend and 2 friars just called from Honduras, all anxiously awaiting news. Some family members have called, also asking for news. I'm looking forward to give them the news they want. :) Maybe today, maybe not.
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.

Oh my goodness... do you not have air conditioning?????!!!!!! How are you making it???!!!! I totally can't imagine! Poor, poor you! I will never, ever, ever complain about being pregnant and hot again. Isn't it like, 100 degrees down there?

Hey, my birthday is August 11th and it is a mighty fine day to be born.... and it just happens to be the feast day of St. Clare. So what do you say.... wanna hang out for a week and a half in that hot Texas heat? I'd sure appreciate a birthday buddy.

You know, I wouldn't mind the heat so much if it weren't for the humidity. I guess the all the rains we've had, the normally dry heat of the Hill Country has turned to the mugginess of the Gulf Coast. Yuck! Honduras was normally dry heat and so we "got used to" it as much as one can. But I have been recently looking into window units for this apartment of my parents that we live in. :)
August 11th, huh? I don't know...I might feel like I'd have to change her name to Emily Clare. :)

You totally rock! I am sooooooooo impressed. And let me guess.... you offer all this up, right??!!
Ack. I feel so guilty!
Anyway, on another note... what in the way do you have in terms of slings/carriers?

Okay, that last sentence makes no sense.... and I'm too afternoon groggied out to figure out what I wanted to write exactly. What I meant to write is do you have a sling/carrier and are you happy with it. Or something like that.

Emily, about the sling/carrier...I have a basic sling that my sister-in-law, Susanna, made me and I have the Baby Bjorn front carrier. I'm not that good with the sling, but Daniel is a natural with it. That's why I got the Baby Bjorn though it does give me a back/neck ache if I wear it for too long. What do you suggest?

I'd don't really know the answer to that question as I have only used Mayawraps (though I once tried a padded sling from a friend for about 5 minutes but totally hated it). I just wanted to make sure that you a)didn't already have a mayawrap and not like it or b) weren't desiring after another particular sling because I was going to send you a mayawrap.
Now that I think about it.... why don't you either mosy on over to www.mayawrap.com and pick a fabric and let me know your address or go here:

http://store.theslingstation.com/
and let me know which carrier you want.

I personally like mayawraps because they are extremely easy to adjust and wear in all kinds of positions and they are great for EC because you can get a baby out in half a second out flat. But I really have no experience with anything else and I know there are a ton of awesome and really hip slings out there. So why don't you pick something out and let me know??!! I am so excited for you all with this new baby!!!!! Can't wait to see pics and don't forget to hold out for the 11th. It really is a great day to be born!

Emily, I think that I'm going to try to work with the sling Susanna gave me which after researching slings on those two sites, I found it is like the Original Maya Wrap Sling. If you still have the instructional DVD, I'd borrow that. The other carrier that interested me was either the Maya Wrap Adjustable Pouch or the Hotsling. Have you ever heard of anyone comment on those types?
