Juan Pablo enjoyed playing instruments at the Mayan Children's Museum.
Emmanuel posed as a Mayan sculpture...Daniel added the fun effects.
Daniel relaxes in the hammock at the bed and breakfast.
Me and the boys sit upon the birthing rocks. This Mayan ruin is a ways away from the other sites, and is where the women would go to give birth. There were 3 "stations"...the one on the right that you can only see a bit of in this photo was the labor rock. The one that I have my foot on and that has the barely recognizable face/shape of a frog is the delivery stone bed. The one we are sitting on is the recovery bed. I believe they would put down some cushioning upon the rocks, but I'm not sure what they would do in the rain or if this was actually under some kind of wooden or thatched roof. Near these rocks was a worn stone carving of a Mayan woman with her infant just after birth. The place is called "Los Zapos" (the frogs) because they believed (apparently some Mayan women still do) in the power of frogs for bringing about a safe and healthy birth for both the baby and mother.
Here we are...behind us the valley of Copan.
