"Fall Weather"

"Fall Weather" means that there have been 2 or 3 mornings this past week when you get up and it's a bit cool outside, the air is crisp, and you feel like going to an Aggie football game. According to the Weather Channel, it has actually gotten down to 68 F, but our little thermometer on our bedside clock has only dropped down to 79 F or so. Of course, our little house is almost always 10 degrees hotter than the outside because of few windows, all concrete with a metal and concrete roof...otherwise known as an oven. I am very thankful for this nice weather and hope it continues...it is nice to think that if I had a sweater down here that I might consider putting it on in the morning or evening. :)
We took a little afternoon trip up to the Friar's hermitage today and helped level out some dirt. Juan Pablo and Alyson are taking a break from the shovel and garden hoe and opting for the "foot-stomping/spreading/sliding" method.
Emmanuel thought the dirt was a mighty tasty afternoon snack.
What's that you say...that is an "Angelito" (little angel). It is a crazy ugly insect that lives on the oak trees for a few months of the year. When they fly, I suppose they look like little angels because of the white stuff. Upclose they are just like a scary, fuzzy, rooster-headed cockroach.
Mom, I want to get you one to show your school kids, but I don't know what the Houston customs people will say when you try to bring a frozen one through. I wish I would have had one for my sophomore biology insect collection.
A few nights of our "fall weather" we actually got out the blankets...which are actually just flannel sheets. The funny thing is that the boys are not used to sleeping with anything on top of them because it is never cool enough to have a blanket. And they usually just sleep in their diapers, no nighty or shirt. So during the night I try to cover them up, but they eventually kick it off in their sleep and then wake up quite cold.

Fun with blankets!

Outside fun. "Fall weather" means we can go outside at 11 am and not start sweating after 2 minutes. So we had a sidewalk chalk activity. And, yes, we've been keeping up with the Aggies! Gig'em! Alyson is from Louisiana and went to LSU, so we have to keep up with them, too. Geaux Tigers!

Michelle,
Just wanted to say I've REALLY been enjoying your blog! Actually, Isabelle made the comment today (as we were looking at your blog together) that she hopes she marries a husband who would want to travel far away to be a missionary!!

I would love to hear your story sometime!

Blessings,

Thanks, Lillian. I've also enjoyed reading your blog...it's great to hear stories, read about struggles and joys of a homeschooling family, and be inspired by a Catholic mother living in the States. Thanks for living your vocation. We're not sure when we're moving back to the States but San Antonio is one of our options for places to live...who knows, maybe we'll be "neighbors" someday. :) God bless you.
